Bitcoin and our Republic
By Mina Attaran
America, the idea, has been tested many times in its history. While it has changed a lot in that time, usually for the better, the core principles have mostly survived and extended to encompass a larger and larger section of our society.
I believe we are currently facing another battle testing our system to its core.
For me, as an immigrant who grew to love the American core values of Freedom, Liberty and justice for ALL, the specific battle lines are around The 1st and 4th Amendments of the US constitution, censorship and the systemic confiscation or inflation of our personal wealth savings.
Aside from the traditional way of attempting to tax the people more, when that’s not possible the system will just print more money thus leaving us completely exposed to a mistake that could rapidly erode our savings if that printed money doesn’t produce a productive outcome.
We are putting an enormous amount of trust in people and institutions that largely have lost the trust of millions of people. This is a very vulnerable situation we find ourselves in and the proverbial “tax payer” seems to be powerless.
They only have to get it wrong once and an entire generation of people will significantly lose their life savings, and in some extreme cases in smaller less advanced countries can lose it all, Lebanon being the latest example.
Bitcoin represents a technology plus an origin story that has developed into the ONLY framework that can not only secure our 1st and 4th Amendments with technology but is also propagating worldwide to anyone with an internet connection.
An unbreakable, resilient, independent record keeping system that cannot and has not been adulterated or manipulated by any power on earth.
This extreme level of integrity in record keeping, something that Gold does not even have (how many times have we joked about whether or not there are any actual gold bars at Fort Knox?) can and will develop into an independent store of value that cannot be meddled with by any Government or central bank. This is something that every liberty loving human should get behind, and it’s our duty to defend it as well as receive the benefits to our economy from this innovation and not let it get chased out to other jurisdictions by enacting stupid policies at home.
To be clear, I am not suggesting someone make wild speculations with large portions of their wealth and for certain I am not doling out any financial advice, I’m not writing about investment growth opportunities here.
What I’m advocating for is that we stand firm behind Bitcoin mining Proof of Work, which not only can generate a lot of economic activity to states that have abundant energy resources, but also helps to secure the entire network along with the thousands of nodes that operate worldwide. We should defend this system with good policies and resist burdensome regulations.
This immutable ledger does not protect one from the law when a crime is committed, nor should it. Instead it protects one from unreasonable search and seizure!
It also protects against the government run amok and if the spending is too much and too wasteful, there is no entity that can simply change how inflation is calculated to hide the fact.

IT IS TIME TO VOTE THIS RACIST OUT OF OFFICE
The Montgomery County, Maryland County Council is about as liberal as you can get. And despite the claims of “We represent all of the People” and “Diversity is Our Strength” … They clearly do not represent all the people and diversity in everything, but political thought is what they really mean.
However, recent events call attention to the most racially biased member of the Council, Will Jawando. Councilmen Jawando has been an outspoken critic of the Montgomery County Police Department and has likened the Police to the “Slave Patrols” of the old South … this just to heighten the rhetoric against police when the country and the county could not be more divided on the issue. And true to the Democrat credo of never letting a crisis go to waste… Jawando has not failed to produce with this Tweet:
Now one would have to deaf, dumb, AND BLIND not to understand the circumstances the Police were faced with and the unenviable requirement to shoot and kill a 15 year old black girl. The video from the Police Body Cam tells us what we need to know about this unfortunate incident…
The entire world can clearly see that the victim Makiyah Bryant is about to plunge a knife into the girl in the pink suit. This is not a “Social Worker” call, or a “Slave Patrol” collecting a bounty… this is a MURDER IN PROGRESS that has been thwarted by the Police… We can see that --- WITH OUR OWN EYES --- but not Will Jawando. His racial animus and not so subtle bias is failing to serve the residence of this county. His calls to “reimagine the police leave us all less safe… and his willingness to use the death of this potential murder as a cudgel beat on the Montgomery County police has reached the point where he must be called on it.
There are many residents of this county who are frightened by this type of anti-police rhetoric. They are frightened for their families, for their property and the well being of the County.
It is time for Jawando to call off his raciest attacks on our police and start acting on behalf of the entire county. Montgomery County deserves better… and November of ’22 is just over the horizon.

Many in our great nation are taking advantage of the warm weather and enjoying mask less fellowship with family and friends. A time to recharge, reflect and reconnect with loved ones after 18 months of lockdowns, big tech censorship, the teaching of revisionist history in our schools, voter integrity issues, stagnate job growth and now the explosion of crime in our county.
Over the past 18 months, we have all sacrificed and lost our sense of balance and humanity, yet in the midst of uncertainty, we have not only survived, but thrived thanks to our uniquely American spirit. These challenging times have tested our character, but our local party has not backed down. It has tested our perseverance, but we are still here and we are growing.
Even a quick glance at the media it is plain to see that our county is under siege by criminals that feel embolden by the progressive Democrat movement to defund the police. The significant increase in homicides in Montgomery County, Maryland has led county police Chief Marcus Jones to label it a “disturbing trend.” Carjacking's are on the rise, particularly in the Silver Spring and Bethesda area. We have had nearly a 40% jump in armed robberies in the county,” Jones said. The spike comes as the police department faces challenges of recruiting and retaining officers. It is time for the good people to take a stand against crime. We ask for your support to visit the police with Sandy Tuttle and the GOP woman’s groups, become educated about the topic and talk to your neighbors and provide a donation that will help us produce video, blog post that will get the message out to ALL the members of our county, regardless of their party regarding this common sense issue.
Another major issue that will effect our county for many years is redistricting on both the state and county levels. It is imperative that any new districts that are redrawn be fair and allow the 100,000 Republicans in Montgomery County to have their voices heard. Please reach out to the state and local redistricting commission, testify, write letters and call to make your voices heard. Let them know that we Republicans will not no longer stand for gerrymandered districts. (https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/COUNCIL/BCC/redistricting/ )
And for some good news … the MCGOP “Summer Soiree” was a great success, bringing in over 120 like-minded Republicans for an evening of fun and fellowship with great speakers, amazing food and entertainment. Anne Koutsoutis and her team “knocked it out of the park” A short video is located here: https://youtu.be/JM4oDxsyqfU
We have sworn in three great Republicans to the Central Committee: Monte Gingrey- LD-16, Amy Waychoff – LD-18 and Michael Glynn as Parliamentarian. They will be working hard to move the MCGOP forward and fight against the progressive Democrat agenda.
Bill Richbourg and his team are putting together both live and zoom events to pushback against CRT and the teaching of revisionist history in our schools.
Ann Hingston is looking for great Republican candidates throughout the county that are clear, focused, articulate can represent the party effectively.
If you know of local conservative organization or groups, please point them our way so that we can continue the MCGOP goal of working together to make Montgomery County better.
Our party is growing and we need tech help. Anyone that has database, social media or SQL expertise and can dedicate 6 to 10 hours per week is urged to contact me.
If you are interested in being part of the Party's’ growth or would like to be an observer at an MCGOP meeting by zoom please contact me.
We have all stayed up nights worrying about the future that seams unclear. During these challenging times we must apricate each other and celebrate what we have accomplished knowing the despite our fears that we are making a difference. Do not struggle in silence share your story… not as a victim but as a victor.
As always, thanks for being a great Republican, and if you can send me a note at [email protected]. I’d love to hear from you. Your notes are encouraging and welcome.

Former prosecutor Jim Shalleck announced he has resigned from his position as president of the Montgomery County Board of Elections to run for the Republican nomination for Maryland attorney general.
Shalleck, who served as a local, state and federal prosecutor for 24 years, resigned from the elections board Wednesday to focus on his bid in the 2022 race.
Shalleck has 49 years of legal experience and has practiced law in a private firm in Montgomery County since 1994. He ran for Montgomery County executive in 2014, but lost to Democratic incumbent Isiah Leggett.
He said his main priority would be fighting violent crimes across the state and prosecuting the most violent and repeat offenders.
“Keeping our families safe from violent crime must be our top priority. I have seen the devastation and heartache that murder and violent crime has done to families,” Shalleck said in a news release. “

Republicans Show Support for Montgomery County Police
By S. Alexandra Tuttle
The most important goal of local government is to protect its citizens by providing them with a high degree of safety and security. As residents of this county, we support the efforts to do so with our property tax dollars. However, the goal of Montgomery County Council Member Will Jawando and County Executive Marc Elrich is to “re-imagine policing” in this county by decreasing the number of officer positions and making substantial changes in how police officers do their jobs.
Please join members of the Montgomery County Republican Central Committee and members of the Chevy Chase Women’s Republican Club as we prepare to visit all six police districts in Montgomery County in order to show our continued appreciation and support for the brave men and women in Blue, who put their lives on the line every day!
We encourage you to join us on Tuesday August 3rd as we make our first visit to the 1st District Police Station located at 100 Edison Park Drive, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20878. We plan to be there as they change shifts beginning around 2:45 pm.
We will be visiting the other 5 districts throughout the rest of the summer. Please contact us as follows:
Sandy Tuttle @ [email protected] or Patsy Dillingham: @ [email protected] for further information. We would like to get a head count, so if you plan to come to this event, please let us know.
