YOUR OWN GOP CONVENTION

2024 is a critical year for our Country, our State and our County. Come join hundreds of your neighbors and friends at our Republican Spring Convention in Gaithersburg. We need to take back the White House, the Senate and drastically increase our majority in the House of Representatives. Let's find out how.

Meet the Republican candidates for House and Senate. Listen to them, talk to them and choose the one you want to vote for in the May Primary. Listen to the views of our keynote speaker, Sebastian Gorka - with stories of his service at the White House, his days as an immigrant American, and his viewpoints he shares on the media and television.

Participate in our Congressional forum for candidates in Congressional District 6, which most pundits say is very winnable for a great Republican Congressmember. We've invited candidates for Board of Education, Judge, even GOP Convention delegates, all available to get to know before you cast your vote.

With Montgomery County unfortunately being an epicenter of serious crimes by illegal immigrants - without the help of our County government in working with ICE, hear from our Luncheon Speaker, former ICE Director Tom Homan. He'll share his opinions on solutions and how we got into this mess to begin with. MoCo is in the news for all the wrong reasons - he'll tell us how to right the boat.

Tickets are now on sale. We've made the convention affordable, buy your tickets now. Luncheon tickets are more limited, but the talk will be well worthwhile. And if you can - please consider a sponsorship. A little extra makes you a Patriot Sponsor to help the GOP print the sample ballots needed for polling places on election day.

I look forward to seeing you there,

Dennis Melby

MCGOP Chairman

BEWARE THE DISINFORMATION POLICE

By Amy Waychoff

Beware the “Disinformation” Police

There is a bill being considered in Annapolis that would severely constrain our First Amendment rights to question the process or results of elections. In HB 333, “Election Disinformation on Large Social Media Platforms and Influence Related to Voting,” “election disinformation” means incorrect or misleading information about election procedures, election results, or voting rights in the State. The bill requires each large social media platform to make reasonable efforts to prevent, detect, and remove accounts and posts that communicate “election disinformation” in the State. The social media platform must report — within 48 hours — very specific information about the problematic posts to the State Board of Elections. Failure to do so would incur fines ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 per offense.

A person who objects to non-citizens voting could be labeled as opposing voting rights.  A person who questions the vote count could be said to be spreading disinformation about an election result.

GOP SAYS BANK YOUR VOTE

Recent elections in Democrat controlled areas have shown that they can overwhelm results with mail-in ballots. It's not unusual for Republicans to win on election day, when those in-person votes are counted, but after all the mail in / drop box ballots are added, the Republicans lose. We won't let that happen again. The new leadership  of the Republican Party is fully behind using mail-in ballots when your Democrat run state pursues it. Watch the video and sign up now for the Primary and General election. And let's Bank the Vote!

STATE REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP

By Stacey Sauter

The Maryland State Republican Party held its first quarterly meeting of the year in Nottigham (Baltimore County) on Saturday, March 16th.  Here are some highlights:

  • The RNC National Convention is being held at the Baird Center in Milwaukee, July 14th-18th. Maryland State Committeeman, Dave Bossie, is one of the leading organizers of event, and has secured the Hilton Garden Inn Suites for our entire delegation. The hotel is within walking distance of the convention center. Packages to the event will be sold through the Maryland State GOP. Details are still being worked out, so stay tuned for upcoming links.
  • The Maryland State GOP Spring Convention is being held on May 17th-18th at the Hager Hall Convention & Event Center 901 Dual Highway, Hagerstown. A block of hotel rooms are reserved at the Hampton Inn Hagerstown.  To purchase tickets for the event go to:  https://secure.anedot.com/maryland-republican-party/sc2024

WHY THE 2024 PRIMARY MATTERS

By Greg Decker

There are actually a few reasons that the primary election in MoCo matters this year. We will talk about just one of those reasons here and then follow-up in future installments.

As you probably know, Maryland sends 8 representatives to Congress. In recent years the only one who is a Republican is Andy Harris from District 1. Previously, we had another Republican representative but severe gerrymandering effectively eliminated Republican Roscoe Bartlett from representing District 6. After the 2020 census and much judicial and legislative wrangling District 6 has been returned to a demographic make-up which as far as major party registration is fairly equal.

An election district analysis at the non-partisan website “FiveThirtyEight” indicates that Maryland’s 6th District is now what they call “Highly Competitive” as opposed to how it used to be, D+double-digits. Democrat David Trone has purchased this district for the last few terms but he has set his sights on the US Senate so there is now no incumbent running.

Here are a couple of images, from the “FiveThirtyEight” site, which describe the demographic make-up of Maryland’s Congressional Districts:
