We must BUILD OUR PARTY - How To Get Involved In The GOP

By Dwight Patel

In order to win elections in 2022, we need to have all hands on deck. Many members of our central committee, and other local activists, have participated in MCRCC committees. That is one way to build our party. The Republican Party is a big tent party. We need all hands on deck and there are numerous other ways, both for those on and off the committee, to get involved in building our party. Party Building can be anything from buying a ticket to a party event like the Red, White and Blue or Lincoln-Reagan Dinner to attending a republican club meeting.

There are the district clubs like in LD-15, who just had a Preakness fundraiser that was a huge success. There are our Republican Women’s clubs, they never fail to bring out a large crowd. There is the Montgomery County Republican Club, their First Thursday with Barry Glassman is coming up and is sure to be a good time. And last but not least, the College Republicans and Young Republicans bring new energy to our party.

If a club is not for you, that’s okay too. There are MCRCC members and volunteers that serve on State Party Committees, like Grassroots, Credentials, Bylaws, Technology and Rules.  These are all party building activities, as they say many paths lead to the mountain top, there isn’t just one road. The important thing is we need YOU, all of you, to get involved.

Gun Control

A NEW TACTIC ON GUN CONTROL

By Karol Smith

Four times as many people were killed with a knife than with any kind of rifle in 2019, the FBI revealed in its Uniform Crime Report released late last month. According to the UCR, 1,476 victims were murdered with “knives or cutting instruments,” whereas 364 people were killed with rifles, including the vague category of “assault rifles.”

There are clear rulings concerning the constitutionality of gun ownership not connected to service in a militia. So, the Left is trying to make the argument that gun manufacturers committed consumer fraud through their speech – and therefore, that’s not protected under the First Amendment and a criminal offense that could open the way for lawsuits.

This isn’t a secret. It’s just not being reported. At the heart of the case, is the New Jersey Attorney General’s position that any opinion that a firearm can be used for self-defense is fraudulent.  That’s what’s going to be argued. Oral arguments in Smith & Wesson v. Grewel begin today in district court.

Exxon Mobile is fighting a suit in the Second Circuit where the gas company is being sued on the basis that they violated the Consumer Protection Procedures Act as their product is contributing to global warming.

In the Middle Ages, people used no eating utensils.  They used their fingers to pull food apart and get it to their mouth.  Oh!  That leaves hands and fingers as weapons………….!!

Mask Mandate Update

On May 15 Maryland lifted the statewide mask mandate, in addition to all capacity and distancing restrictions. This is what we have been waiting for and working toward. We finally do clearly see the light at the end of that tunnel.

It has now been over one year and two months since we first began taking unprecedented actions to bring our entire public health arsenal to bear against this invisible enemy. Together we summoned every once of our strength and every resource at our disposal to defeat this threat.

Our long, hard-fought battle against the worst global pandemic in more than a century is finally nearing an end. As we reflect on the hard work and the many sacrifices that it has taken to finally reach this point, I want to say thank you. You have shown the rest of the country what it means to be Maryland Strong.
